Olivia Benson

Detective Olivia Benson is a fictional character on the Law & Order spinoff Special Victims Unit. Played by actress Mariska Hargitay, Olivia has been the show's main detective (along with her partner Elliot Stabler, played by Chris Meloni) since its debut in 1999. Olivia herself is the product of rape. As a child Olivia dealt with her alcoholic mother's abusive physical and emotional behavior toward her.
